hi all,I get the sense that this community isn't really firing at the moment... I'm doing a rethink about how we might operate this site. Potentially a yahoogroup might be a more useful community resource than a strictly web-based community?

We are members of the Uniting Church in Orange. The U Turn project is relevant to all congregagtions and although we have no project underway at this stage I feel the importance of sharing ideas with others to be very important for the project overall. Look forward to learning with you all.

Hi, I'm no longer a resident in NSW but saw the UTurn project in Insights & it caught my eye. I'm part of a congregation in Darwin that is experimenting with ways of connecting with the community & exploring emerging church thought. Thankyou for the opportunity to tap into this resource! I look forward to regularly checking in to see whats happening.

TWELVE GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Most communities address social and economic problems with only a small amount of their total capacity. Much community capacity is not used and is needed! This is the challenge and opportunity of community engagement. Everyone in a community has something to offer. There is no one we don’t need.

"My missional experiences" – Megan Crofts
Last year I was a Forge intern, during that time I learnt a lot about thinking & behaving missionally. A theme that was repeatedly talked about in Forge is that to be missional means to be sent out. It doesn’t mean to sit in a church & wait for people to come to us so we can tell them about God. It is about going out into the community & sharing God’s love with all we come into contact with.
I would like to strongly encourage you to join already formed groups in the community, rather than trying to start your own groups. Unless there is an obvious need with interested people. I would encourage you to get out & join groups you are genuinely interested in & begin getting to know people that way.

If Jesus Led Your Small Group - Part 2
The Upper Room Discourse was indeed the kind of small-group meeting that every leader longs for. It didn't happen by accident. It happened under the skillful and prayerful leadership of the quintessential small-group leader—Jesus Christ.

If Jesus Led Your Small Group - Part 1
What would it be like to be a part of a small-group meeting led by Jesus? Until recently, I never presumed that it would be possible to answer that question with any kind of authority. Then I realized the Upper Room Discourse in John 13–17 might provide a clue.

Jesus walks into a bar...
More younger people are delving into Christianity. But they are unlikely to worship at the altar, writes Barney Zwartz.
'JESUS asked his mates to stay with him, but they got pissed and fell asleep, the bloody bastards." As an account of the disciples' failure in the Garden of Gethsemane the night before Jesus was crucified, it may lack the poetry and majesty of the King James Bible. But the 22 street people in a dingy city basement get the point powerfully.
